The young German soprano Theresa Steinbach has a brilliant high coloratura voice with a warm and shiny colour.
She began her professional musical training at the age of 15 as a junior student at the University of Music in Nuremberg.
She completed her main studies at the Leopold Mozart Centre in Augsburg with Edda Sevenich and at the University of Music in Nuremberg with Prof. Johannes Mannov.
During her studies, she made her debut as the Witch in Henry Purcell’s „Dido and Aeneas“ at the Augsburg State Theatre and as „Armide“ in Gluck’s opera of the same name at the Nuremberg State Theatre. After completing her studies, she became a member of the Nuremberg State Theatre’s international opera studio, where her roles included „Frasquita“ in Bizet’s „Carmen“, „Papagena“ in Mozart’s „The Magic Flute“ and „Valencienne“ in Lehar’s „The Merry Widow“. In the 2022/2023 season, she made a guest appearance at the St. Gallen Theatre in Switzerland as „Adele“ in „Die Fledermaus“ by Richard Strauss.
In addition to opera, the young soprano dedicates herself intensively and passionately to Lied. She was a finalist at the Richard Strauss Competition in Munich under the direction of KS Brigitte Fassbänder and has given recitals at home and abroad. Most recently, she won the special prize for the best interpretation of a German art song at the international Giullio Perotti competition.
Her busy concert schedule has taken Theresa Steinbach to venues including the Berlin Philharmonie, Gewandhaus Leipzig and the Munich Residenz. She has performed in front of and behind the camera of Bavarian Radio and sang H. Schütz’s Resurrection History on the radio.
Theresa Steinbach was already honoured with numerous prizes at a young age. Most recently, she won first prize at the international Giullio Perotti competition, as well as the special prize for the best song interpretation. Theresa Steinbach is also the winner of the City of Augsburg’s art sponsorship award.
