Joanna Sojka is a young lyric-coloratura soprano from Poland. She has a high, clear and focused voice with a shiny high top.
In 2014 graduated with honours from the Academy of Music in Cracow, Poland. In 2016/2017 she studied singing at the Department of Early Music in University of Arts Bremen at the class of Peter Kooij and Katharina Rössner-Stütz.
Prize winner of 3rd International Early Music Vocal Competition “Canticum Gaudium” in Poznań, Poland. She won a distinction at the 4th International Competition “Ars et gloria” in Katowice, Poland.
Joanna had the opportunity to perform under the baton of such outstanding conductors as Joshua Rifkin, Marc Minkowski, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Vincent Dumestr, Dirk Vermeulen, Dirk Brossé.
The artist performs with many ensembles and orchestras: Sinfonietta Cracovia, Oh! Orkiestra Historyczna, Capella Cracoviensis, Wrocław Baroque Orchestra, Baroque Collegium 1685, Harmonia Sacra, Weser-Renaissance Bremen, Ensemble Mare Nostrum.
So far, the artist has performed the following roles: Queen of the Night in the Piccolo Magic Flute at the Warsaw Chamber Opera, Poland; Euridice from the “Orfeo ed Euridice” by Ch. W. Gluck, dir. Magdalena Piekorz, music director Stefan Plewniak at Opera Nova Bydgoszcz, Poland; Nina in “Il giovedi grasso” by G. Donizetti and Serafina in “Il campanello” G. Donizetti, dir. Grzegorz Chrapkiewicz, music director Kuba Wnuk at the Warsaw Chamber Opera, Poland; Celia in “Lucio Silla” by W. A. Mozart at the Opera RARA festival, Capella Cracoviensis orchestra led by Alessandro Moccia; Cleone/ Une Ombre Hereuse/ Une suivante d’Phebe  „Castor et Pollux” J. Ph. Rameau, dir. Deda C. Colonna, conducted by Benjamin Bayl at the Warsaw Chamber, Poland;  Eurinda, the queen of Sicily from the opera by A. Stradella “Moro per amore” staged in the Roman theater Palazzo Altemps, dir. Fabiano Pietrosanti, conducted by Andrea De Carlo; Belinda in „Dido and Aeneas” H. Purcell, dir. Daniel Stachuła, conduced by Paul Esswood in Grand Theatre Poznań, Poland and Warsaw Chamber Opera, dir. Tomasz Cyz, music director Dirk Vermeulen; Marzia in J. A. Hasse’s opera “Arminio”, dir. Marek Mokos, music director Martyna Pastuszka, staged in the City Theater in Gliwice, Poland; Megacle from the opera A. Vivldi „L’ Olimpiade” conducted by Rinaldo Alessandrini  in NFM Wrocław; Konstanze in the “Oriental adventure” based on the W. A. Mozart opera “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” KV 384 staged by the Warsaw Chamber Opera, Poland.
An important place in the repertoire of the artist is occupied by the following parts: W. A. Mozart – Queen of the Night, Celia, Ismene, Zerlina, Susanna;  G. Donizetti – Norina (Don Pasquale); V. Bellini – Elvira ( I Purytani), Amina (Sleepwalker); Ch. Gounod – Julia (Romeo and Juliet) ; R. Strauss – Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos); J. Strauss – Adela; J. Offenbach – Olimpia, G. F. Handel – Morgana from “Alcina”, Dalinda from “Ariodante”, Dorinda from “Orlando”as well as oratorios (e.g. Schöpfung, Jahreszeiten, Carmina Burana) and songs. The artist has performed with a repertoire of film music. She performed, among others: Vocalise from the movie “The Ninth Gate” by Wojciech Kilar, solo fragments from the soundtracks from “Lord of the Rings”, “Tytus Andronicus”, “Gladiator”, “Inception”, “Princess Mononoke”.
In January 2021, the artist’s first solo album was released, containing songs by the Polish composer Eugeniusz Pankiewicz “Pieśni nieznane” („Songs unknown”). The album is available on streaming platforms.
