Alexander Schulz was born in Berlin.
The heldentenor has a large, powerful, dark voice with a radiant, secure high register.
Alexander Schulz is a soloist at the Kharkiv National Opera. He graduated from the National Academy of Music in Odessa, Ukraine, and won the International B. T. Shtokolov Vocal Competition in St. Petersburg.
Engagements have taken the tenor to a number of opera houses in Germany and abroad, including the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Landestheater Neustrelitz, the Opera Nova w Bydgoszcz in Poland and the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, the Estonian National Opera in Tallinn, the Prague State Opera and National Theatre in Prague, the Kiev National Opera and the Odessa Opera House, the Macau Opera in China and many more. His repertoire includes the main roles in Puccini operas such as Cavaradossi (‘Tosca’), Pinkerton (‘Madama Butterfly’) and Calaf (‘Turandot’) as well as roles in Verdi’s operas, including Radames (‘Aida’) and Othello (‘Othello’). Also Canio (Leoncavallo, ‘Pagliacci’), Hermann (Tchaikovsky, ‘Queen of Spades’) and Florestan (Beethoven, ‘Fidelio’). Alexander Schulz has also sung the title roles in Richard Wagner’s operas ‘Tannhäuser’, ‘Lohengrin’ and ‘Tristan und Isolde’ as well as Erik in ‘Der fliegende Holländer’.
