German Mezzo-soprano Alicia Grünwald has a warm and shiny voice, with  clear top notes.
From the 2026/27 season onwards, Alicia Grünwald will be a member of the Opernhaus Bonn. In the 2025/26 season, Alicia Grünwald is a member of the International Opera Studio at Cologne Opera. 
Operafirst completed her bachelor’s degree in piano in Munich before taking up vocal studies at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Prof. Bernd Valentin. In October 2022, she began her master’s degree in opera and musical theatre at the Cologne University of Music and Dance with Prof. Gideon Poppe, recently graduating with top marks. She also received further important vocal inspiration in a masterclass with Vesselina Kasarova. Alicia Grünwald also has a special passion for lieder and Baroque music. She was a long-standing soloist in the Baroque ensemble BachWerkVokal Salzburg and participated in two recitals in Vienna, organised by the Austrian Goethe Society. Alicia Grünwald sang the second alumna in the opera „Der singende Teufel“ (The Singing Devil) by Franz Schreker at the Theater Bonn during the 2022/23 season, and in the 2023/24 season she appeared as the Third Naked Virgin in „Moses und Aron“ by Arnold Schönberg and as Laudines Herz in the children’s opera „Iwein Löwenritter“ by Moritz Eggert. At the Cologne Opera, she sang the role of Lady Capulet in the youth opera „Romeo and Juliet“ by Boris Blacher and Berta in the children’s opera „Pünktchen und Anton“ by Iván Eröd. In the world premiere of INES by Ondrej Adámek, she was heard in the role of Speaker 5. This season, she appeared at the Theater Bonn as the apprentice in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and in the mobile children’s opera Mücke hat Fieber. She also appeared as the apprentice at the Deutsche Oper Berlin during the season. There she will make her debut in several important roles, such as Hansel in Hänsel und Gretel, the Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte, Tisbe in La cenerentola, Siegrune in Die Walküre and many more!
